giving thanks.

wow, i guess it’s been a while since i’ve updated here. on this thanksgiving eve, i’d just like to give thanks to all my clients and friends of wagsbymags for all the love and support over the past week and a half of my bizarre health scare and hospital stay. i got back to work yesterday and seems like everything is ok again so hopefully no more setbacks. i appreciate everyone’s concern and also patience and understanding.

i am still taking select bookings for the holidays/through the end of the year but am shying away from overnight stays for now as i try to make sure i am taking good care of my health and getting good rest. i think i perhaps was overdoing it there for a while. cat sits will be preferred though depending upon the circumstances i might take some dogsits that don’t require overnights. i will be working through christmas but am hoping to have new year’s weekend off (2-3 days) if at all possible. hit me up via email to query.

enjoy the holiday, everyone.

taking off sept. 21-22

i just wanted to make a quick post to say that i will NOT be taking any pet-sitting bookings for friday september 21st or saturday september 22nd, as these are the days of the 7th annual rising tide conference, of which i am an organizer/volunteer.

i will work my regular daytime walking schedule for friday the 21st, but will not be available after 4pm that day, or at all on saturday the 22nd.

if citizen activism, the future of new orleans, and social/new media are topics that interest you, then i highly suggest you check out the schedule of panels and keynotes for this year’s conference. it’s an inspiring grassroots gathering that draws folks together to discuss, debate, and network on topics of importance to us all, i.e. education, cultural commodification, media, the environment, entrepreneurialism, and parenting. i didn’t have all that much to do with the programming this year, but i will be there all day helping behind the scenes. join us!

openings.

after reconnecting with all my clients this weekend, post-vacation, it turns out a few of them have had changes in their circumstances and won’t be needing me regularly at this time.

so what that means is that i have a few openings that i would really like to fill.

i have a 10:30-11am open in the uptown area, preferably in the campus area. and an 11:30 also open uptown, anywhere from carrollton up to the garden district.

if you need a time other than this, or are located elsewhere, let me know and i will see if i can move my schedule around at all to accomodate you.

spread the word. thanks!

i’m back! business as usual as of monday, august 20th.

yes, i am back from vacation and it was WONDERFUL! thank you to all my clients for helping to make it happen, and to julie tweeter, my substitute walker/sitter who also took such good care of my own feline babies. i am refreshed and rejuvenated and ready to get back to all my dogs and cats, who i missed!

i am now booking sits for the fall. october is already pretty full and november is filling up quickly, so if you have a need, let me know so i can get you on my calendar.

i will be back to my full daily walking schedule on monday, august 20th. i am pretty fully booked but might could squeeze in one or two more depending on the timing… so just email me if you are interested.

thanks everyone!

jazzfest

hi everyone. i know i haven’t updated here in a while. things have been busy.

just wanted to put it out there that i am working through the first weekend of jazzfest, as i’ve gotten a lot of calls this past week for sits and walks. so if you still need coverage april 27-29, let me know. (though i’d really like to see janelle monae on sunday the 29th, so hopefully i can have a few hours free that evening.)

however, i am not going to work saturday and sunday of the 2nd weekend, so i can partake of the festivities at the fairgrounds. or my friends’ front porch who live a block away. either way, i am not taking any sits or walks for may 5 or 6. (i will of course be honoring my regularly scheduled dogs on thursday the 3rd and friday the 4th.)

hope everyone’s been enjoying this lovely spring weather. i know the dogs have been!

be sure to check in on my facebook page where i update much more frequently with super cute pics of all my animal clients!

abundance!

just wanted to update since my last post was about having openings in my daily walking schedule that i am now pretty much at full capacity in that department. i’ve picked up two new clients in the past few weeks who are 4-5 days/week, filling in some holes i had in my schedule. i still have a little wiggle room in the afternoon for occasional walks but not really for a daily commitment, at the moment.

i am of course still available if not already booked for pet-sitting gigs, overnights or otherwise. (i try hard to only schedule one dogsit gig at a time.) cats are almost always easy to fit into my schedule unless they are on a specific time plan. for dogsits, it will depend on the timing of the midday walks, mostly. but feel free to give me a try!

i am NOT available on fat tuesday (feb. 21) for any services. i am taking the day off – probably my first intentional day off since i started this biz (other than my medical leave). i intend to enjoy my favorite new orleans holiday to the fullest – and i hope you do too!

happy carnival everyone!

now a member of pet sitters international!

wags by mags! is proud to announce its membership in pet sitters international, the world’s largest educational association for professional pet sitters!

i’ve been meaning to do it for a while and just kept forgetting… but with all my year-end spending i figured this was as good a time as any. i’m looking forward to combing their website for tips and info, and receiving their bi-monthly magazine petsitters world!

(i also just subscribed to cat fancy and cesar’s way magazines, guilty pleasures but also hopefully educational to some degree.)

openings…

right now, i still have a mon-friday daily opening at around 11 or 11:30am in the uptown area… there are some other holes in my schedule on certain days but that is the only timeslot that is available every day.

if you are interested in that opening or want to see if i can fit you into my other open timeslots, email me.

i’m baaaack!

just a quick update to say i got the all-clear from my doctor this morning to resume dog-walking work. she did advise i do so *slowly* and not try to go back to my full schedule overnight. so i will be gradually increasing my client load over the next few weeks. there have been some shifts in my schedule – some clients have moved on, i’ve added a few new ones in – so bear with me over the next two weeks as i try to figure out how it will all fit back together in a sensible way.

also, pet-sitting bookings are starting to fill up for the holidays so if you are in need, please get in touch right away so i can hopefully fit you into my schedule.

big thanks to all my clients for their patience in getting through the last six weeks without me! i can’t wait to be back to walking everyone’s dogs again! i’ve missed them all!

i am hitting the pause button…

…for the next month or so. which is not to say that wags by mags! will be shut down/closed – more like on auto-pilot. the reason is because i will be having some much-needed surgery this coming wednesday and they tell me my recuperation time will be up to four weeks before i can work again.

so. my regular daily walking clients have all already been apprised and taken care of (i will have a substitute maintaining my daily schedule). but it does mean i will NOT be taking on any new walking or pet-sitting clients during this time, and will most likely NOT be able to cover any pet-sitting or one-off/last-minute walks from my regular clients either. i am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but this is a life-changing medical procedure that i desperately want/need, so it is worth taking a pause in the action for a little while. i hope you’ll bear with me.

i will update here and on my facebook page when i am back to work again. i thank everyone for the amazing support i’ve received in the first six months of this business, and i look forward to continuing and hopefully expanding business on the other side of this slight pause.
